Apr. 02, 2003 - 6:25 p.m. There is no light and dark in this house Just the dark and the darkest Hues far below ebony throw sight and sound into a different dimension But the pull of one is vastly different from the other Though the line between the two is constantly shifting Embracing the totality of the deepest reaches Sucking the life from the very fount where it was conceived Sly and wily as he slips through the masses Subtlety is his mantra And he is a snake in the grass, unseen, but nevertheless deadly The other embraces only you Catching you up in the hurricane of conflicting emotions Like a natural disaster: a tidal wave, a flood, a volcano You will drown and burn and scream And if you didn't see it coming, you were the greatest fool of all But the dance is like the edge of a whip cracking in the night Around and round, down and down We will all eventually spiral to utter nothingness And lay satiated in the arms of Mother Night All that will be left is the soft hiss and the contented purr
