Endless Night

The moon has been stolen from the night sky.
The stars have fallen.
I stand in front of a door that is not open.
I hold a card I refuse to see.
I do not want to stay,
But this night is eternal.
The hope has long since been crushed.
My heart lies in a thousand pieces.
I pray to gods who have long since deserted me.
They are deaf to my pleas.
I wish I had the words to say,
But this night is eternal.
Tears would wash away this pain, but I've forgotten.
I've lost the ability to cry.
I ache so deep within my soul.
These lives have been nothing but a tragedy.
I want to make it go away,
But this night is eternal.
One step and then another, down this path I walk.
Sometimes, I look back.
But the road wanders off for aeons.
And despite the experiences, there is nothing left to see.
I wish for the day,
But this night is eternal.
